Certainly anxiety can also be present in hypothyroid patients and medical research studies have revealed this fact clearly. While anxiety commonly occurs together to varying degrees with depression, true clinical depression is often the emotional disorder that can more-often lead one to severe states of anguish, hopelessness and despair. It is in fact a major cause of suicide throughout the world according to medical statistics and this is just as true of hypothyroid patients who can experience ongoing struggles with this sometimes debilitating emotional issue as I have with my own autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimotos thyroiditis). Within the chapters of this book, I wish to address this emotional symptom of an underactive thyroid gland, including descriptions of how it manifests and how hypothyroid patients can deal with it and have it treated successfully to regain an improved quality of life. I will also include medical research study quotes, found on the U.S. National Insitutes of Health medical research information website (PubMed), which allows reprints for public education purposes. It is my sincere hope that this information proves to be helpful to hypothyroid patients seeking information regarding stubborn symptoms of depression that do not resolve for them adequately in spite of being treated for their hypothyroidism. This book is not intended to be an extensive manual but is intended to contain information most often sought by laypersons on the subject. CONTENTS: CHAPTER ONE: How Does Depression Manifest in Hypothyroid Patients? CHAPTER TWO: My Hypothyroid Depression Story CHAPTER THREE: Getting Thyroid Hormone Therapy as Perfected as Possible CHAPTER FOUR: Diet, Supplements and Exercise DEDICATION: To all of my fellow hypothyroid patients, who struggle with low mood issues as I have. It is my prayer for you, to find peace of mind and victory over your feelings of chronic depression. It is also my hope to inspire you toward successful coping and treatment through the words I offer within the pages of this book.
